Best speakerphone I have foundSep 12, 2009
By HockeyDave I work from home quite often and have been searching for a speakerphone so that I can participate in conference calls from my home office and have it not be like I was calling from another planet. Most of the less expensive speakerphones I tried either I could barely make out what was being said on the call, or when the mic wasn't muted, the audio would cut in and out. This phone is expensive, but I feel to me it was worth it. Audio quality is great, and I can easily hear what is going on on the conference call.

There is no comparison - Polycom scores with this Speakerphone.Mar 24, 2009

HI All.
This was purchased for a home office where there was a need for a regular amount of conference calls. The home office is on the noisy side with a regular amount of activity in the background. Headsets, to me, are cumbersome and thus I finally decided to invest in the Polycom.
Setup is fairly easy...its like plugging in a regular land line telephone.
Using this model is also easy because it has the display that shows you what you are dialing, etc. There is a lower cost model available that does not have the display...but I highly recommend the extra cost because the display makes it all the much better.
When initially installed I ran about 5-10 tests with various people and at various times of the day due to the different amounts of background noise.
I can say that all tests said that they could hear me clearly and that it sounded just like a regular phone call. Polycom has some of the best noise canceling features in the business and those exact features are in this device. Most of these STAR conference phones are found in corporate environments...but this one is perfect for small office/home office use.
Keep in mind...Polycom is the sole manufacturer of devices like this...even if they are branded by other companies such as Cisco..etc.
Excellent product, worthy of 5 Stars...

Best There IsJun 07, 2008

The Polycom brand is know for its excellence for business, and this item doesn't disappoint. In short, it's worth every penny. We needed the features of a business conference phone including extraordinary sound clarity, both at the receiver and microphone. The speaker delivers tone depth that can't be found on consumer-grade speakerphones, allowing a more natural sounding conversation. The microphone reaches across large conference table, serving as many as an 8 without any difficulty at all. It also dampens the echo acoustics of large, open room. Its really easy to install too--just plug it into any regular phone jack--just make sure you have a power outlet near the same jack or you'll be running extra cords across the floor. This is a great stand-alone device; you can opt for the expandable version if you wish to add outboard microphones. You could also save a bit of money if you get the version without the helpful LCD screen.

Expensive, but best in class.Jul 09, 2010

My company uses this as our conference room speaker phone setup for small conference rooms. It is great at filtering out background nose while managing the varying voice levels of participants and keeping them all loud & clear to those on the other end of the call. They are expensive and we have tried less expensive models and brands and keep coming back to this model.
Set up is so easy you don't even need to use the manual. Fully recommended, and they last years and years. We have found that either people break a cable by running over it with a chair or other acts of God (like a flood) kills these things before they die on their own. Very quality, reliable, fully recommended.
Do note that this is the "non expandable" model, which means if you have a huge conference room and people in the far ends can't be heard, you can't buy the optional add on microphones to extend across the table and plug in. This model does not support that expansion mic option.

Excellent Teleconferencing PhoneMar 17, 2010
By Daniel J. Sivertson I use the Soundstation2 for my home office, often teleconferencing for up to 8 hours per day for my work with NASA. The sound quality on this device is amazing with consistent volume control. Even on teleconferences with very weak connections on the other end of the conversation, I am usually able to discern what people are saying . There is no embarrassing echo with this device. I've been using this for two years straight and could not be happier. I swallowed hard at the initial price of this device, however, experience shows that this is one of the smartest investments that I have made. If you spend a lot of time on teleconferences and have a private office, I highly recommend the Soundstation2 as an option for your office.
