I really wanted to like this unit but....Jun 04, 2007
By M13 The good: It plants pretty far into the ear. The plus sides are it's a snug fit (you won't have to worry about it falling out with normal usage), you can hear very well, it's very small and light.
The bad: Since it's so small you can lose it very easily. That's no fault of motorola, but something you should be aware of. Now the major bad... this picks up all kinds of background noise, whether it's there or not. If you're in a crowded room then forget it. However even if you're in a quiet room, then there's all kinds of background noise such as buzzing and what not. I'm not sure how the headset is picking up sound and I don't care. It's picking up extra sound, even if it isn't there.
This is for you if you don't want to have conversations and are only checking voicemail. Otherwise.....

Good Cool Factor - But Revising My RatingMay 27, 2007
By S. Hodges I originally gave this 4 stars, mainly due to the looks and unique style. After wearing it for about a week, and continually being told that my voice sounded muffled, plus the wearing discomfort that I just couldn't get used to, I returned the H9 for a refund today. It is cool looking, but if you use your bluetooth for hours a day as I do, it's just not practical, maybe 2 stars......Original review follows***** I bought this mostly to make one of my co-workers envious, and should do the trick, as this is one of the most unique looking bluetooth headsets on the market. The fact that it picks up your voice through the ear canal is pretty neat, and seems to cut down on ambient noise. The portion that fits in the ear is slightly curved so you may need to rotate the external part to get the best fit. Mine fits best with the "M" facing sideways. My biggest complaint is once you achieve the seal recommended in the instructions, it feels sort of like you have your finger stuck in your ear, but I seem to be getting accustomed to it. All in all, not the most comfortable I've ever used (and I've used a lot), but tolerable, and one of the best performers, and least noticeable.

Great sound and comfort, but short talk time.Sep 16, 2007

I bought this two days ago. The fit, sound quality and comfort are good. I thought it would fall out of my ear, but it is very light and fit securely in my ear.
The description online says up to 7 hours or so, but what it didn't state in detail is that it lasts that long only by using it with the charger. I was on a call for 1.5 hours and it started to die on me. I checked some other website and they do say that the earpiece lasts 1.5 hours and can be used for up to 7 hours with the charger. If I'm on a call for longer than 1.5 hours or have used it before a long call, it will not last. What is the point of having a handsfree headset if you need to switch to your phone, while you recharge the headset?
I'll know better when I go to return this headset for one with a longer, continuous talk time.
The talk time is my only complaint. I would love this headset if it had a talk time of at least 4 continuous hours.

Star Trek it is NOTJul 12, 2007

At first glance this looks like a great idea, but the reality is that inserting this device in one's ear reduces the ability to carry on personal conversations when not in use and it also becomes uncomfortable in a vert short time. The incoming call quality is good, but everyone I call comments (complains) that they are unable to hear me or the quality is so bad that I have to call them back after I disable the device and use my handset, which defeats the purpose of this purchase.
I do NOT recommend this product, and at the current list price please select another product, you will be happier for it.

The negatives outweigh the positivesMay 27, 2007
By James Van Booven This headset has some good features, but the bad ones outweigh them. On the good side: (1) It's very easy to understand the people you're talking to because the headset has a good speaker and the in-ear design blocks most of the outside noise in that ear. (2) The headset fits firmly in the ear, and does not feel like it will fall out. (3) The buttons are easy to press, just gently grasp the sides of the headset with two fingers, and press the buttons with a third, and you don't need to jostle the headset loose or shove it down your ear canal to press a button. (4) The bluetooth connection to -- and disconnection from -- the handset are faster than on other bluetooth headsets I've used, and the automatic connection/disconnection from the phone when putting it in the case are convenient.
The negatives outweigh the positives, however. (1) It's very difficult for callers to understand what you're saying, because you sound very muffled and fairly quiet. Many nuances in your voice are lost entirely. I placed test calls to various people, left myself voicemail messages, et cetera, and the quality was abysmal in comparison to my old my Motorola H500 bluetooth headset. Automated telephone systems with voice activation that I use routinely from my old headset without issues were not able to understand my voice commands on the Motorola H9. (2) The in-ear design of this particular headset is uncomfortable. I use other in-ear headphones, and find them comfortable, but this headset is painful to wear, no matter which of the included earbud covers I used. With this headset, the initial pain turns to discomfort, and you get used to it, but it's by no means comfortable.
If they improved the microphone significantly and re-designed the in-ear portion of the headset to be more comfortable, this could be a great headset. But I have to say that as currently designed, it's not usable.
