nice gadgetNov 25, 2008
By LJK This is my first navigation system and it was given to me as a gift. The sound is superb. The touch pad could be a little more sensitive, as it seems that you need to use your fingernail or more than a fingertip to get to the menus. All in all, a great product.

Great ValueDec 06, 2008
By G. Parsley You can't beat Magellan RoadMate 1212 for the price. While it has a lot of the same features of the TomTom and the low-end Garmin's, it does not skimp on any of the extra features. Incredibly small, portable, reliable, with a long battery life.

Very nice, does what needs to be done.Apr 10, 2009

Announce the street names in a very clear speech, when I miss an entrance it recalculates a route pretty fast. I am satisfied with it. Bought it back in December and it has been behaving good so far. I am able to find most of the Points of Interest that I have searched as well.
Only two cons:
-it takes forever to find the satellites after I turn it on. I have to turn it on before I leave so it will locate itself with no delay. -battery takes forever to charge and it does not have a power cord charge. Battery fully charged only after a 4 hrs travel.

Magellan RoadMate 1212Mar 12, 2009
By John M. Smith This is my first GPS unit to be used in an auto; used Magellan in an airplane and we're completely satisfied with its performance. Because of where we live, we have to travel to distant cities in order to do any major shopping. The RoadMate never fails to direct us to our destination with turn-by-turn voice instructions. Couldn't be more pleased with the product.

Better than my factory installed GPSJan 26, 2009
By Mark Priz This Magellan RoadMate 1212 Portable Auto GPS works better than the factory installed GPS in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Because the data base is stored in solid state memory it is quicker at calculating and re-calculating routes. It has more points of interests stored in its memory than on the DVD of my factory installed system. I have been very impressed with this small portable but economical GPS from Magellan.
