Big sound, small package!Nov 21, 2008
By Jason Mcminn I was looking for a powered sub to fit under the driver's seat of my PT Cruiser convertible. I don't have a lot of extra trunk space or interior space for separate amps and subs, and the bass from my Alpine receiver/ Polk DB speaker setup tended to disappear when the top went down. After some deliberation, I decided to give the Kenwood KSC-SW10 a shot.
Setup was fairly simple- I have some experience in car audio installation, which came in handy. The wiring harness looks intimidating at first, but most of those wires can be clipped off if your receiver has RCA jacks for subwoofer output. This leaves three wires to connect plus the RCA cables. Installation, including removing the driver's seat to ease access and running the power wire through the firewall to the battery, took about an hour.
The bass produced by this unit is fantastic given the size and low RMS power of the amp. I was expecting to have the gain cranked all the way up in order to get decent sound from it- I was pleasantly surprised that I generally have it at 50-70% volume, depending on the album. Even with the top down, I get rich bass which makes my whole system sound better! The unit comes with a compact and attractive remote which controls the gain, crossover point and polarity. I used the remote for the first few days I owned the unit until I got the sound just right- now I control the sub volume via the receiver. I keep the remote in the glovebox just in case.
All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with the KSC-SW10. For an adult who listens to adult music (alt-country, indie rock, classic rock) it provides an excellent combination of performance and subtlety at an unbeatable price.

Well I read the reviews for the previouse model and decided to try this the KSC-SW1. I would rate this in the same category they described. I am 35 and listen to a wide variety of music from Jazz to hard core Heavy Metal. I would say that this thing might dig down and produce 50Hz once at low volume. But, it does produce decent bass for a surprisingly small package. It fit under the seat of my f350 crew cab with no problems and fills that big cab with bass and not equipment. If you want seriouse bass stick with two 12 inch subs and a 500 watt amp (personally I've grown out of that). If you want decent sounding music in a small package then buy this and I would bet you'll be happy.

Perfect Fit for my WranglerJun 10, 2010
By K. Estep It will not give you window shaking bass but it sounds great. It fits perfectly under the back seat in my '06 Wrangler.

AWESOME SubSep 13, 2011

When I finally got this installed into my car, I wasn't expecting very much. I mean look at it... it's barely bigger than a a couple shoeboxes, and less than half their height. But once I fired up the iPod, it totally blew me away! Being in my 30s, I am very pleased with the sound it delivers. I didn't want something that would annoy fellow motorists while at a stop light, nor did I want something that wasn't worth the price. This Sub was able to provide the right balance of bass, price and convenience.
It's small form factor is perfect, too. I drive a 4-door pickup, and the rear seat's back folds down. The Sub fit perfectly back there, and especially since the amp is already built in, I didn't have to sacrifice any more of what little space I had to work with. And being an expectant father, I wasn't about to give up my back seat for a big sub anyways.
In short, for those who don't have much space to work with, and just want their music to sound more like the way it was meant to sound without pissing off people outside the car, this Kenwood sub is definitely something you might want to consider.
