Also fully compatible with all public and private Wireless-G and Wireless-B networks. The Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SRX400 is the simple way to add or upgrade wireless connectivity in your notebook computer. Just slide it into your notebook's PC Card slot and enjoy high-speed wireless network access while retaining true mobility. The Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SRX400 combines smart antenna technology with standards-based Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. By overlaying the signals of two Wireless-G compatible radios, the "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology effectively doubles the data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G. With SRX, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get, and SRX400 works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equip | | | Features: | |

Great Product!Dec 15, 2005

"Good Guy"
I bought the WRT54GX4 yesterday along with a WPC54GX4 PCMIA card for my laptop. My old WRT54G died after 2 3/4 years of service. Linksys will replace the old unit under warranty, but I run a small business and couldn't wait for a replacement. I also found the wireless link between the WRT54G and the WPC54G to be somewhat spotty with the wireless card not catching the router signal all to often so an upgrade was in order anyway.
I installed the WRT54GX4 router with no problem and found that my wired connection had better internet response although I know of no reason why that should be the case. I also tested it with the the laptop with the OLD WPC54G card and the difference was amazing. All of the dead spots in my home were gone, the signal was strong and the transmission rate was inproved. If you want to save a few bucks, but need an improved wireless network, the router will do that even with standard G product in my brief experience.
I next installed the WPC54GX4 card in the PCMIA slot in my laptop. Installation was a breeze. As expected signal strength was strong throughout the house and the data transfer rate was consistantly 240Mbps! To check the range, I put the laptop in the car and concluded I could easily keep connected if I were visiting any of the neighboring houses. The card also picked up a lot of other networks in neighborhood (most of which were not encrypted).
These are not cheap products, but they work and are well worth the money if you want a great wireless network.

Very Solid Product for Business or Home UseJul 26, 2007
By Fred Ammons This product is a good solid, stable product that works well in a business environment. SRX 400 works well to boost signal strength and to give you that extra bar of signal when you need it. My mobile users with this card can routinely get a usable, solid signal where reception was poor before. - As always, I never recommend installing the Linksys application, but instead installing the card and then using the Windows wizard to install just the driver from the CD. I recommend using the Microsoft Wifi control and third party applications sometimes cause conflicts. - Again, great for home or business use. As an IT professional this is the card I would equip users with if their notebook was not equipped wifi or if their internal wifi was not performing up to the user's desire. - As a side note, I would recommend that with all technology items, that you install the latest firmware straight away. I suggest that before ever calling tech support or writing a negative review online. More times than note, a firmware update has resolved my problem unless an item was damaged in shipping. In that case it is not a poor reflection of the product, but rather the delivery service. Please consider that when writing reviews.

Great Card even at $100+Jan 18, 2006
By Kevin from IL I installed a wireless network using the WRT54GX4 and three WPC54GX4 cards in desktop pc using a pci to pcmcia bridge card. I also have a WPS54G print server on my network. All use WPA2 for security. The speed is awe inspiring for a wireless network, as well as the range and coverage. I give LINKSYS an A++ on this one.

Great For My Home NetworkApr 13, 2006

I purchased the WPC54GX4 adapter for my Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook, along with the WRT54GX4 broadband router (for use with Roadrunner) for my desktop computer. I also connected a second desktop with the WMP54GX PCI adapter.
I don't subject these items to sophisticated uses, but for my home network, it is simply great. Setup was easy for all components, and I have yet to find any dead spots around my home. File and printer sharing is also easy to set up and use. The internet speed on all computers, including the notebook, is as fast as wired, and definitely faster than the standard Wireless-G card which came with the notebook.
The only delay I have encountered is when I use the Print Properties to change printing preferences while using the notebook or second desktop. After clicking the Properties button from the Print dialog box, there is a long delay before the Properties dialog box appears.
I have been using these devices for two months and have been very pleased. I have encountered one other problem which began several days ago, but have not yet determined the cause. The notebook speakers start to buzz whenever I insert the WPC54GX4 notebook adapter. Then, when I connect to the internet (open Internet Explorer or AOL), the buzz becomes louder. Dell is going to replace the port on my notebook, and I will then know whether the problem is the port or the adapter. Until then, this notebook adapter gets 5 well-deserved stars.
08/31/2006 Update: Dell replaced the motherboard and Linksys replaced the adapter. The interference is still there.
09/27/2006 Update: After getting no further help from Dell or Linksys, I just "restored" my compter to a date prior to when the interference began. The darn noise is gone, for reasons which I can't explain. The adapter still works great, and now without the noise.
